Waukegan’s building stock runs deeper than most of the towns we work. There are frame houses west of Sheridan Road that predate the First World War, brick two-flats and four-flats through the neighborhoods off Lewis Avenue, postwar ranches spreading toward Green Bay Road, and downtown buildings with flat roofs that have carried four or five generations of patching. On a single block you can find a 1910 gable, a 1955 hip and a 1970s addition, and all three want a different repair.
